My speech

For the past few weeks room 4 have been practicing persuasive writing and our speech's. This year's topic was anything and I chose "Should students wear whatever they want or uniforms to school? Are they important or not?

                                                                      My speech

Kia ora my name is Dakota and my speech is about "Should students wear whatever they want or uniforms to school? Are they important or not?"

Question: What do you think uniform or no uniform?                                                                                        In my opinion, I think uniforms are important and should be worn to school everyday unless it's mufti-day. I have about four reasons why I agree to school uniforms.

Represent your school!                                                                                                                                       Reason one: I think students should wear school uniforms so people in public know which school you represent.

Don't bully others for what they wear!                                                                                                               Reason two: Bullying occurs everywhere now. There is bullying in school, online, and in stores. One of the reasons why there's bullying in school is because of what students wear. Some students can't afford expensive clothes and some can. Many students that can afford expensive clothing bully the ones that can't. Schools can put a stop to that by requiring all students to wear a uniform.

There's no need to spend too much money!                                                                                                         Reason three: Why spend so much money to look good in school? Some parents spend plenty of money from their bank card to buy their kids some new clothes. If the school requires students to wear uniforms, parents won't have to spend so much money.

Safety!                                                                                                                                                               Reason four: School uniforms improve safety. Keeping track of students and what they carry into our schools makes it easier for staff and other students. Intruders can be identified right away by our school community because they stand out.

In conclusion, there are many well-documented benefits implementing mandatory school uniforms for students.

Thank you for listening to my speech!

Astrid and the wolf

                                          Astrid and the wolf

Note:

We were adapting fairytale stories

Astrid held out her hands. She was alone in the forest, and an eerie silence surrounded her. All she could hear was the faint buzz, like a bee settling down on a flower, coming from the thing she held so protectively in front of her.

Her hands were suddenly filled with a comforting warmth, as a silvery light pulsed from the object. A tingle ran down Astrid’s spine.

“It must be magic…” She muttered excitedly under her breath... “It must be!”  “I shouldn’t tell anyone” she whispered to herself . It was silent for a moment until Astrid heard someone or something step on a twig, she got an enormous freight, she threw her hands up in the air, turned around to see what scared her, and screamed.

She couldn’t believe what she was looking at. It was a tall wolf standing on his two back feet, he had dark brown fur, big red eyes as red as blood and he was wearing a dark blue jacket with matching blue pants. Astrid turned around and saw that the magic had disappeared. She freaked out, she didn’t know what to do.

The tall wolf was slowly walking towards Astrid with a very big grin on his face and water dropping down from his mouth. She was planning on running away but she had a scary thought that he would chase her. Astrid was looking around trying to find something to defend herself, she looked at the ground and saw something covered in leaves hoping that it was a strong stick to defend herself, she tried grabbing it with all her might but the wolf kept walking towards her and the closer he got the greater the terror got.

Dribble was pouring down his mouth and he made all kinds of growling noises. The wolf took his time walking towards Astrid knowing that she wouldn't escape. “You’re too weak to pull that branch out of the ground!” He said with a hungry growl “And you'regonna taste delisious!” He growled. Astrids heart was racing and she began to breathe faster and heavier than she’d ever had. “How can you talk?” She asked in terror “Didn’t you read the sign when you first came in here?” the wolf asked “No, what did it say?” she asked, “Well you're in the enchanted forest of course!” He shouted. Astrid was confused, one minute she was about to get eaten and the next they were asking each other questions like nothing bad was going on between them. Astrid sat down on the ground covered with orange and yellow leaves that had fallen from the trees, repeating: “This is all just a dream, this is all just a dream!” The wolf sat down next to Astrid, then she was really confused. “The names Timmy” he introduced “What's your name?” he asked “Astrid” she whispered with fear still inside her “Well what a gorgeous name you have,” said Timmy. Minutes had past and half of Astrid was still a bit confused and the other half of her was calm, telling her to just go with it. Timmy continued chatting then Astrid finally straightened up and began talking with Timmy then they became best friends. The end!
