Build a blog comment

We were learning what a quality blog comment is. For this activity, we had to start with a greeting then say what we loved and then end with a question but we had to drag the words from the edge and put them on the fridge.

I found it easy to write a greeting.

I found it difficult to make a good, helpful, and positive question.

I really enjoyed learning about positive and connective comments.

Next time I need to make my task tidier.

Peer pressure

 WALT: Find key information

This week for reading, we have been doing activities about Peer pressure. For this activity, we had to find an image, write it in a sentence, part of speech e.g. verb, and find the definition of Peer pressure. My favourite part was finding the image and my second favourite was to write it in a sentence.

Fraction word problems

WALT: Solve Fraction maths word problems

This week for maths, room-5 has been learning how to solve fraction word problems. Some of these problems were fun and easy but some of them were pretty difficult. I liked solving these maths word problems because you can show your working out. Next time I could maybe make the slides tidier.

Matariki and the Southern lights art project

WALT: Create a Matariki and the Southern lights art project

For art, we have been creating a Matariki and Southern lights with pastel, white paint, black paper, and a bit of yellow paint for the seven sisters. During this activity, I really enjoyed it because I love doing art and because this looked very interesting to do. Next time I could maybe make sure that I don't get big blobs of white paint.

Peer pressure

 WALT: Find key information

This week for reading we have been learning about Peer pressure. We have been using a K W L sheet to help us, K stands for what I know about Peer pressure, W stands for what I want to learn about Peer pressure and L stands for what I've learned about Peer pressure. During this activity, I got a bit stuck on the K column because I've never heard about "Peer pressure" so I just put a question mark there. But I still liked this activity. Maybe next time I could learn more about Peer pressure.

Multi-step maths word problems

WALT: Solve multi-step math word problems

This week for maths, we have been learning how to solve maths word problems. Some of the problems were fun and easy but some of them are pretty difficult. I like solving maths word problems because you can show your working out.

My 100 words

WALT write 100 words in 10 minutes

In-room 5 we have been doing 100 words in 10 minutes. We're allowed to write about anything we want as long as its 100 words. After our 10 minutes is up we swap books with a buddy then we count each others words, write their score, we write our names next to their score, and hand our books to the teacher.

Maths word problems

 WALT solve maths word problems

This week for maths, we have been learning how to solve maths word problems. It is very fun and also easy but some of them are pretty difficult. I like solving maths word problems because you can show you're working out. Here is an example of how I work my equations out:

E.246-123=?
W.O. 200-100=100  40-20=20  6-3=3

A Day in the Life of a Veterinary Technician(Read-works)

WALT: Increase our knowledge by reading a wide range of texts (Article a day - Book of Knowledge)

Today I have been reading an article a day on Readworks and then writing about what I have learned. Then after that, I submitted it.

I have learned that a fluffy black-and-white cat greets patients and visitors at the Chippens Hill Veterinary Hospital in Bristol, Conn. I have also learned that in addition to safety concerns, there's a lot of physical labor involved in lifting, transporting, and holding the animals, some of which might be scared and liable to lash out.

My career work

                             WALT: Dream and discover
BLURB
For Inquiry, the year 7's got a booklet that's all about careers. For this activity, I really liked it because I was learning about what careers are and why people like them. The thing that I found challenging was that I didn't understand some of the work. But maybe next time I could read it carefully read it then I would understand it.

Comic strip (storyboard)

WALT: Understand what a Storyboard is.

In-room 5, we've been doing 'Storyboard that' about smart relationships. This was one of our Cyber smart activities with our Cyber smart teacher Whaea Deb.

While I was doing this activity I had a lot of fun creating the characters and learning about smart, positive, thoughtful, helpful blog comments. My next step would be to finish the Storyboard.
Here is my storyboard.

Adobe bricks

WALT: Focus on place value, and on comparing lengths, widths, and areas.
This week for maths, Room 5 has been learning about widths and lengths and also heights. While we were doing this activity I really enjoyed doing it but it was a bit challenging because we had to find out this equation: 22.5x☐=100. But maybe next time I could have listened the first time then I would have got the answer right.

The film editor

WALT: Increase our knowledge by reading a wide range of texts (Article a day - Book of Knowledge)

Today I have been reading an article a day on Readworks and then writing about what I have learned. Then after that, I submitted it.

I have learned that as the editor, it is the man's job to cut all that footage down to an hour and a half. I have also learned that when deciding whether a movie is good or not, most people think about the storyline.

Song and dance(readworks)

WALT: Increase our knowledge by reading a wide range of texts (Article a day - Book of Knowledge)
Today I have been reading an article a day on readworks and then writing about what I have learned. Then after that, I submit it.

I have learned that across the United States and you'll hear a chorus of regional accents. And the second thing I have learned is that Jarvis attended Hunter College in New York City. There, he conducted laboratory research in molecular biology, the study of the molecular building blocks of life. The idea of scientific discovery began to excite him.
