Donated steps

WALT: reach 2,777,985 steps in 24 hours

I found it easy to just walk around. I found it hard to walk and count my steps at the same time. I really enjoyed doing this activity with my class and other classes. Next time I need to keep on track of how many steps I'm taking although I got about 1,000 steps altogether.

Tikanga in the classroom

WALT: write a DLO about Tikanga in the classroom

I found it easy to write what Tikanga in the classroom means. I found it hard to find a cool background. I really enjoyed getting the text box the right size for my writing. Next time I need to add more writing in some of the text boxes.

Maths word problems

WALT: create our own maths word problems

I found it easy to write a word problem. I found it hard to write a very good one. I really enjoyed finding the images to match my word problem. Next time I need to write a harder word problem with bigger numbers.

Tikanga in the classroom

WALT: write about our school value

I found it easy to write what Tikanga in the classroom meant. I found it hard to get the text box the right size for my writing. I really enjoyed choosing the background. Next time I need to add more writing about Tikanga in the classroom.

Deforestation

 WALT: Find key information

I found it easy to write the main idea of the article. I found it hard to read all six pages for the information. I really enjoyed learning about when the native forest once covered most of Aotearoa in a great green swathe, heaving with biodiversity. Next time I need to make my work tidier.

Multi-step word problems

 WALT: solve multi-step problems

I found it easy to write a word problem about my friends. I found it hard to get the right amount of dogs and material. I really enjoyed writing word problems. Next time I need to write harder word problems.

Te wiki o Te Reo 2020

WALT: Understand Te wiki o te Reo Maori

This week we have been learning about Te Reo Maori because it is Te Wiki o te Reo week. It has been really fun because we have been doing a lot of  Maori activities.

I found it easy to add or subtract the numbers in English. I found it hard to say the answer quick enough in Maori. I really enjoyed learning the numbers in Te Reo Maori( Rua tekau and Toru tekau). Next time I need to try not to look at the board with the numbers and just give it a go.

WALT: be safe on the road and at home

WALT: be safe on the road and at home

Today, room 5 was lucky enough to have a visitor named Constable Mat who is a police officer but only for schools, he is also like every other police officer. But today he talked to us about road safety, safety on the bus, and safety at home. These are the things that I have learned from him: Moving things out of the way on the bus because someone could trip over, wait for the bus to go past 2 power

Mapere planting

WALT: write about our Mapere planting experience

On Tuesday, Rooms 5, 7 and 11 walked to Mapere to plant Spinifex and Flax. We went to Mapere to try and help our environment and the dune restoration program. We planted Spinifex to stop erosion. But first, we had to get in a group of four with an adult then we had to get two spades, some plants, and some tablets. It was really cool but it was also really painful for our eyes because it was windy the sand kept getting in our eyes. But the best thing was having a sausage sizzle with everyone else. All together we planted 750 plants which was amazing. Next time I need to take more water and a hat. Here are some photos of us!
